New Orleans also boasts a decidedly natural side. It is home to the Audubon Nature Institute (which consists of Audubon Park, the Audubon Zoo, the Aquarium of the Americas, and the Audubon Insectarium), as well as gardens that include Longue Vue House and Gardens and the New Orleans Botanical Garden. City Park, one of the country's most expansive and visited urban parks, has one of the largest (if not the largest) stands of oak trees in the world.

Things to do in New Orleans, USA. City Centre Walking Tour

By Robert Yarnall Richie SMU Central University Libraries [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons

In New Orleans you'll find the roots of jazz and a blossoming culture that has been long described as being unlike anything else in the United States. Founded in the early 1700's, New Orleans is one the nation's oldest cities and has an atmosphere rich with a mix of French sophistication, Creole, African-American, Caribbean, Irish, Haitian, German, and Vietnamese, all creating an energy that can be described as something greater than the sum of its parts. Though hit hard by Katrina, "NOLA" remains the largest city in Louisiana and one of the top tourist destinations in the United States.
